YRS Dental Consulting Services provides consulting and professional services to dental practices and other dental industry organizations.

YRS Dental Consulting Services is not a dental healthcare provider and does not provide dental diagnosis, treatment, or patient care through this website.

Depending on the nature of the services provided to a dental practice, YRS Dental Consulting Services may receive, access, maintain, or process information that constitutes Protected Health Information (“PHI”) under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (“HIPAA”).

When YRS Dental Consulting Services performs services involving PHI on behalf of a HIPAA-covered dental practice or other Covered Entity, YRS Dental Consulting Services may function as a Business Associate as defined by HIPAA and will handle PHI in accordance with applicable HIPAA requirements and the applicable Business Associate Agreement (“BAA”).

When required by law and applicable to the services being performed, YRS Dental Consulting Services may enter into a Business Associate Agreement with its dental practice clients.

The BAA establishes the permitted uses and disclosures of PHI and the responsibilities of the parties regarding the protection, security, and handling of such information.

Where YRS Dental Consulting Services acts as a Business Associate, PHI will only be used or disclosed as permitted by the applicable BAA, as necessary to perform contracted services, or as otherwise permitted or required by law.

When YRS Dental Consulting Services receives or accesses PHI in connection with services provided to a dental practice, reasonable and appropriate administrative, technical, and physical safeguards are used to protect that information.

These measures are intended to help prevent unauthorized access, use, alteration, loss, or disclosure of PHI.

Access to PHI should be limited to authorized individuals who require access to perform legitimate business functions associated with the services provided.

When applicable, YRS Dental Consulting Services seeks to limit the use, disclosure, and access of PHI to the minimum amount reasonably necessary to perform the applicable consulting or professional services, consistent with HIPAA requirements.

Dental practice clients should avoid providing YRS Dental Consulting Services with patient information or PHI unless that information is reasonably necessary for the services being performed and appropriate safeguards and agreements are in place.

When YRS Dental Consulting Services uses subcontractors or service providers that may create, receive, maintain, or transmit PHI on its behalf, appropriate safeguards and contractual requirements will be implemented when required by HIPAA.

Where applicable, such parties may be required to enter into agreements requiring them to appropriately safeguard PHI.

If YRS Dental Consulting Services becomes aware of an unauthorized use or disclosure of PHI, security incident, or breach involving PHI for which notification is required, YRS Dental Consulting Services will take reasonable steps to investigate and mitigate the matter and provide applicable notifications to the affected dental practice or Covered Entity in accordance with applicable law and contractual obligations.

Dental practices working with YRS Dental Consulting Services remain responsible for their own HIPAA compliance obligations as Covered Entities.

Each dental practice is responsible for maintaining appropriate privacy and security policies, obtaining required patient authorizations or consents, managing patient rights, training its workforce, maintaining appropriate safeguards, and determining when PHI may lawfully be disclosed to vendors and Business Associates.

The use of YRS Dental Consulting Services does not replace a dental practice’s responsibility to maintain its own HIPAA compliance program.

Visitors should not submit patient records, medical histories, treatment information, Social Security numbers, insurance information, or other sensitive patient information through general website contact forms, email, text messages, or other communication methods unless specifically instructed to use an authorized secure method.
